About JouJou

JouJou is a French restaurant in San Francisco's Design District, an homage to the bustling, beloved restaurants of an era that promised a great time when you went out: glamorous but unpretentious, easy but stylish, full of energy and life. The name means "toy" or "plaything" in French, and the cuisine follows suit, seafood-focused but not exclusively so, bringing French food to the table through a California lens, cooked with every bit of technique it needs and none that it doesn't.

Guests can choose where they want to play, whether that's our glass-enclosed bar (called the “Menagerie”), the raw bar with counter seating looking onto the chefs at work, the sunken Rose Room for more secluded dining, or the semi-circle booths built for seeing and being seen. It's a place for a quick glass of Champagne with oysters and frites, or a full night out with a group of friends and a shellfish plateaux. Come play with us.
